Knowing everything about Homi Bhabha Balvaidnyanik competition( Junior Scientist Exam)

Homi Bhabha Balvaidnyanik (Junior Scientist) Examination is an exam conducted by Great Mumbai Science Teachers Association to encourage students to take keen interest in science and its application in daily life. This exam is conducted for students 6^th std and 9^th std.Students of all boards ( SSC. CBSE, ICSE, IB) can appear for this exam.

This examination consists three stages.

First stage – First stage is Written test which consists 100 objective questions ( 30-Physics, 30- Chemistry, 30- Biology, 10- General Science Awareness) for 100 marks. Students have to solve 100 objective questions in 90 min.

Second stage  – Second stage is practical examination. The meritorious students of first level can appear for second stage. In this examination students have to perform practical’s in Physics, Chemistry and biology. Practical exam is conducted for 30 marks.  For 6^th standard, it consists six experiments  in Physics, chemistry and biology .( Each practical carry 5 marks).

                   For 9^th standard   students there are three experiments( 1- Physics, 1- Chemistry, 1- Biology)  and students have to perform three experiments.(Each experiment carry 10 marks).

Third stage – Third stage consists  project, viva and interview. The meritorious students of second level can appear for third level. Students prepare project on the given topic.

The main feature of this exam is that,

• There is no prescribed text book for this exam. Students have to refer different books and gain science knowledge from different media.
• Students can’t top this exam using single book.
• This exam is based on Maharashtra State Board syllabus.
• Syllabus For Std 6^th exam-Std 4^th,5^th,6^th Science text books of SSC board .
• Syllabus For Std 9^th exam-Std 7^th,8^th,9^th Science text books of SSC board .
